Now this Video is Exceptionally fucking Weird because it’s an “Art Imitates Life and Life Imitates Art” Scenario. What We mean by that is INTERPLANETARY REVOLUTION is an Actual Russian Anti-Capitalist Propaganda Cartoon Fantasy Short Released August 18, 1924 . The Cartoon Short was Created (and Co Directed) by Nikolai Petrovich Khodataev and the Experimental Studio State Tech Kino. Khodataev was a Russian and Soviet Artist, Sculptor, and Animator who was a one of the Founders of the Soviet Animation Industry.

When it comes to Watching INTERPLANETARY REVOLUTION Luckily there is No Dialogue so No Annoying Subtitles to be Concerned with, and All Russian Text is Translated Directly on the Screen as Opposed to Closed Caption. Whats interesting is there are Several Different Types of Animation from Traditional Cartoon to Monty Python like Animation, to some Strange shit You’d See on Adult Swim at 2 in the fucking Morning. Now this Cartoon is pretty fucking Far Out in the Deepest Depths of Left fucking Field that’s for sure. It can get Chaotic and Confusing so We have Key Point Pertaining to INTERPLANETARY REVOLUTION Below.

The Alien Monarch of Mars Never Invented Democracy.
The Closing Sequence Features a Portrait of Vladimir Lenin.
The Animation is Best Described as “Deranged”.
The Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy – The Alien Emperor’s 4 Guards Defend Him Triumphantly, Slaughtering Rebels in DOZENS of Shots. In the Later Shots the Guards seem to be Poorly Armed and Won by Sheer Numbers Alone.
The Leader – The Commissar (An Official of the Communist Party, Especially in the Former Soviet Union Responsible for Political Education/Organization) brings Revolution to the Planet Mars just by Speaking to a Local Proletariat ( A Proletariat is a Working Class of People, Regarded Collectively and Often Used with Reference to Marxism).
The Planet Mercury is Featured by a Man Resembling a Pre-Revolutionary Russian Shopkeeper. The Many Armed and Unfriendly Fellow isn’t Identified but is Believed to Most likely be the Planet Jupiter.
We See a the Eyes of the Moon turning into a Man and Woman who start Hugging and Kissing. The Commissar finds this to be Wildly Amusing BUT it has NO Relation to the Plot of INTERPLANETARY REVOLUTION.
Those Fucking Nazis: The Time being 1924, INTERPLANETARY REVOLUTION Features a Rather Wacky Italian Faschist (Who at that time were Best Known for Fighting Communism).
The Cartoon States (INTERPLANETARY REVOLUTION) is “A Fully Probable Event in/of 1929” just a mere 5 Years after INTERPLANETARY REVOLUTION came out and was Said in All Seriousness.

Welcome to Today’s FYB Post featuring HER LOVELY FEAR by London Based Writer, Director, Visual Artist, and Computer Animator Ben Wheele Who is a Repeat Offender if You Will here at FYB. It’s No Secret We are Definitely Fans of Mr. Wheele having Showcased some of His Other Work Here Perviously on FYB (Henry Eats and Cigarette_Warning).

Wheele Graduated from The Royal Collage of Art with a Masters in Animation in 2011, and His Films have been Screened at Festivals Internationally, Including Annecy, Pictoplasma, London Intl.Animation Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival and Stuttgart ITFS. Wheele’s work has also been Exhibited at The Sunday Painter Gallery (London), Gazell.io Digital Art Space, and Broadcast on Adult Swim and Channel 4 (UK). He is also the Founder of ‘Studio Ponk’ and Currently Lectures in 3D Animation and Games at Middlesex University.

BANNED SUPER BOWL UNO COMMERCIAL!!!

Monday’s are a real, true blue motherfucker, and its been that way since man came up with the 5 day work week. Breaking down the days of the week is fucking child’s splay so:

Monday: Sucks like the motherfucker it is.
Tuesday: Not really all that fucking great, but it’s one day closer to the weekend so advantage Tuesday for not being Monday.
Wednesday: AKA hump day the pivotal middle of the work week turning point. Half the bullshit work week is done and only 2 more to go until the weekend. Plus one of those 2 remaining work days is fucking Friday.
Thursday: Nothing special other than being the day before friday.
Friday: Last day of the work week AND motherfucking payday so time to fucking party.
Saturday: Do whatever the fuck you damn well please day because you still got Sunday to fall back on.
Sunday: Relax like a motherfucker because tomorrow it’s motherfucking Monday all over again.

With that said this Monday’s FYB post features the video BANNED SUPER BOWL UNO COMMERCIAL by alternative comedy Allstars in the Oddest of the Odd. Now I’d like to take a fucking moment here to comment on the alternative comedy genre so I will. There is so fucking much I get a fucking kick out of when it comes to alternative comedy, but in the interest of saving time here is a brief list of just some of the attributes of alternative comedy I think are wildly entertaining:

Alternative comedy is the suspension of disbelief personified as some attribute of the genre include dealing in.
grossly over exaggerated extremes
use of Cerebral surrealism
often manic energy/intensity
propensity to use outlandish violence
Its unorthodox/unconventional creative process
the over the top showmanship.
The sheer bizarre insanity of the content/subject matter
Truly unique artists and various art forms.
The total disregard for tradition comedy/traditional comedy formulas/traditional creative processes/traditional comedy norms.

In my view alternative comedy is an evolved version of the theater of the absurd best personified by the likes of the British television series Monty Python’s flying circus (1969-1974) and subsequent Monty Python Movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) or Monty Python: The Meaning of Life (1985) for example. Monty Python were comedy pioneers who brought the theater of the absurd to the mainstream public. There was also during that time period the brilliant performance artist Andy Kauffman (January 17, 1949 – May 16, 1984) who deserves just as much credit for his work in/with the theater of the absurd as Monty Python does.

Then by the mid 1980’s the theater of the absurd genre of comedy had faded from the public eye and back into obscurity once again. That was until Canadian comedian Tom Green hit the scene on MTV in 1994 with the ground breaking Tom Green show. Green essentially rebooted and rebranded the theater of the absurd into the alternative comedy genre of today. Basically if there was no Tom Green show there wouldn’t have been an Adult Swim, Comedy Bang Bang, or The Eric Andre Show and many, many more of todays artists/acts.

But I digress for now so ONTO THE VIDEO MOTHERFUCKERS!

Short Horror Film Friday: Too Many Cooks

Welcome to this Week’s Installment of Short Horror Film Friday. This Week We will be Featuring the Dark Comedy Surreal Horror Short Film Too Many Cooks!

Too Many Cooks Originally Aired as a Special during Adult Swim’s Infomercials Block on October 28, 2014, at 4:00am ET. It was Created, Written, and Directed by Casper Kelly, and Produced by Williams Street. After its Original Airing, Too Many Cooks went on to become a Viral Video Online, and was Shown Repeatedly Each Night at Midnight ET during the Week of November 11, 2014

Premis:

The Video begins as a Parody of Opening Credits Sequences of the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s American Sitcom Comedies, then Television Crime Dramas, Prime Time Soap Operas, Saturday Morning Cartoons, Super Hero Live Action Series, Slasher Films, and Science Fiction, with each of them Gradually Bleeding into the Next. Particular Focus is put on a Slasher Film Villain, Who is Hidden in the Background of Several Early Shots but eventually Starts Killing the Other Characters with a Menacing Machete. The Opening Credits Sequence Ends after about 10 Minutes and Transitions into the “Episode”, with all the Characters from the Opening Standing in the One House; the Short Ends approximately 10 Seconds Later, Cutting to the Closing Credits before a Full Line of Dialogue can be Spoken.

Flying Lotus: “Ready Err Not”

While Searching the Internet for Strange, Unusual, Odd, Creepy, Disturbing, and Down Right Traumatizing Content Stumbled Across the Music Video for Flying Lotus’s “Ready Err Not” and was Instantly and Intensely Interested. The Trippy Soundtrack was Trance Inducing while watching the Accompanying Array of Graphically Violent Imagery Play Out on the Screen. Honestly We have a Goddamn Clue Wtf the Song or Video are Actually About We just Know We get a Real Big Kick Out of It. A Surreal Song and Gore Driven (and Bloodsoaked) Graphics what the fuck is there Not to Love?!

Steven Ellison, known by His Stage Name Flying Lotus or Sometimes FlyLo, is an American Record Producer, Musician, DJ, Filmmaker, Songwriter, and Rapper from Los Angeles, California. He is also the Founder of the Record Label Brainfeeder.

In 2006, while Visiting His Mother’s House, Ellison saw an Advertisement on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim Programming Block asking for Song Submissions. Ellison decided to Submit a Few of His Songs , Under the Name Flying Lotus (a Moniker Inspired by Lucid Dreaming) and His Songs were Accepted by Adult Swim.

Around this Time, Ellison was Interning at the Pioneering Hip Hop Label Stones Throw Records, and Released His Debut Studio Album called 1983 on October 3, 2006. The Album helped Ellison develop His Eclectic Creative Mission, Forging Compressed, Experimental, Spacey, Electronic, Jazz Rap, and Eastern sounding Hip Hop Beats. The Album Channeled the likes of Madlib as much as Dntel, while Sampling as Far Back as 1970’s Japanese Proto-Synthpop and 1960’s Jazz Harp.

Filthy Apes and Lions

We Here at FYB are Quite Amused to Present the Claymation Music Video “Filthy Apes and Lions”. The Music and Vocals are By Mark Stoemer and Animated as well as Directed by Lee Hardcastle (Who happens to Be one Of Our Favorite Animators Who’s Work We have Featured Several Times Here at FYB). The Song was a Writing Collaboration between Mark Stoemer and Lee Hardcastle.

Mark Stoemer is an American Musician and Songwriter. He is Best Known as the Bassist for the Rock Band The Killers until 2016. In Addition to His Work with The Killers, Stoemer has Released Three Solo Albums one being 2017’s Filthy Apes and Lions. Stoemer also joined The Emo Band The Smashing Pumpkins to Tour in Support of the Band’s Ninth Studio Album Monuments to an Elegy (2014), and Produced The Howling Bells’ Third Studio Album The Loudest Engine.

Stemer Talked about the Songwriting Process behind the Single “Filthy Apes and Lions”: I was doing a Stream of Consciousness, Surrealistic Exercise where You just Write Out Whatever’s on the Top of Your Head, and Then I Started CreatingRhymes, Not Really Knowing where I was going, and then that’s where I got the Lyrics for the Song.

Lee Hardcastle is a British Animator Who Specializes in Stop-Motion Techniques. He is Famous for His Handmade Independent Animations. His Work includes Original Remakes of Emblematic 1980’s Action and Horror Movies, as well as Parodies of Animated Series and Video Clips. His Work is Known for its Violent and Gory Content. He has worked with Many Companies including Momentum Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and Adult Swim, and has Also Worked with Notable Artists such as Sufjan Stevens. Besides Being a Kick Ass Animator Lee Hardcastle was a Member of the Band Shit The Bed.

Shit The Bed was a Hardcore Punk Band with Grindcore Tendencies from Leeds, UK Formed in 2000 by Jordan Ramoth, Richard Kenyon, Dom Smith, and Lee Hardcastle when They were in High School. The then 14 Year Old Band Members used to get Together to Share Their Mutual Love of SST Records as well as Other Shitty Bands that 14 Year Olds are Into. In 2006 Shit The Bed put Out Their first and Only EP Titled Camel Bite! that has amassed a Niche Cult Following over the Years since its Release. The Main Lyrical Themes are Gary Coleman, Computer Games, and Massive Natural Disasters. In Addition to Playing Drums in Shit The Bed Hardcastle also made Music Videos for the Band.

What DO We Think TALKING HOUSE is About Well…

We believe its a Social Commentary on Ironically the Fact that Human Beings are at Their Core Social Beings. We simply Don’t Fare well on Our own as Anyone Who’s ever Isolated Themselves can tell You. We’ve all been all experienced Intense Feelings that We feel Compelled to Talk to Some Else About. You might have gotten some Good News and are Excited to No End. Perhaps You received some Bad News and You’re fucking Pissed and want to Rage/Vent about it. You could also Be Depressed, Lonely, or Just have to get oUt of Your Own Head for awhile whatever the Base Emotion is We almost instinctively feel the Need so Share Aspects of Our Daily Lives with Those Around Us. Thats why the Bitter Irony of So Called Social Media is it Alienates the User from the Actual Physical World, and the Vital Human Contact We all Crave being Human. We think TALKING HOUSE is a Perfect Example of this Human Base Desire/Compulsion.
