Saturday Slasher Cinema: THE DRILLER KILLER

Welcome to this Week’s Installment of Saturday Slasher Cinema featuring the 1979 Black Comedy Slasher Film Directed by Abel Ferrara and Starring Ferrara credited as Jimmy Laine. Ferrara  is an American Filmmaker , known for the PROVOCATIVE and often CONTROVERSIAL Content in His Movies, His use of Neo-Noir Imagery and Gritty Urban Settings.

                   

The Plot concerns Reno Miller, a Struggling Artist in New York City, being Driven Insane from Stress and Killing Derelicts with a Power Drill. When the Movie was Released on Video Cassette in 1982, its Graphic Packaging drew Complaints which landed the Release on a List of “Video Nasties” that were BANNED IN THE UNITED KINGDOM under the Video Recording Act.

Video Nasty is a Colloquial Term in the United Kingdom to Refer to a Number of Movies, Typically Low Budget Horror and Exploitation Films, distributed on Video Cassette that were Criticized for Their Violent Content by the Press/Media, Social Commentators, and Various Religious Organizations.

                   

Synopsis: Starving New York Artist Reno Miller is  Struggling to Pay His Bills, while Obsessed with Painting His Masterpiece (which He hopes to Sell to Art Dealer and Gallery Owner Dalton for Rent Money), and Caring for His two Roommates Carol the Divorced BiSexual and Her Drug Addicted Girlfriend Pamela. When the New Wave Punk Band Tony Coca-Cola and The Roosters move into Reno’s Building Playing Music Nonstop Day and Night, Reno can’t Sleep and is Slowly Driven Insane. As Reno Descends into Madness He takes to Stalking  the Streets of the City after Dark, and Gruesomely Killing Homeless Derelicts with a Power Drill.

Saturday Slasher Cinema: The Burning

Welcome to this Week’s Edition of Saturday Slasher Cinema Featuring the 1981 Slasher Cult Classic The Burning Directed By Tony Maylam. The Movie is Based on a New York Urban Legend of the Cropsey Maniac, and is the Debut of Actor Jason Alexander as well as  Actress Holly Hunter. The Musical Score for the Film was Composed by Rick Wakeman of the Progressive Rock Band Yes. The Special Effects are Courtesy of Effects Legend Tom Savini who turned Down Working on Friday the 13th Part 2 to work on The Burning.

(NOTE: Before Any Wise Ass has a Chance to Mention it Harvey Weinstein was involved in this Movie, but I refuse to give Him ANY Credit for Anything Ever. The Only Thing Harvey Weinstein should be Remembered for is being a Pedophile, Child Molester, and Serial Rapist Who will Die Rotting in Prison.)

                   

Plot:

At a Camp Blackfoot, Some of the Teenagers pull a Prank on The Camp’s Sadistic and Alcoholic Caretaker, Cropsey (as They feel it is necessary to ‘Get Him Back”). The Prank though goes Horrifically Wrong when They Teens accidentally Set Cropsey on Fire and Leave Him for Dead. Five Long Torturous Years Later, the Demented and Deformed  Cropsey is Discharged from the Hospital, and Returns to the Camp Equipped with a Pair of Rusty Sheers, Ready to Unleash His Particular Brand of Vengeance on Those Responsible for His Gruesome Disfigurement. Can Anyone Stop the Murderous Cropsey’s Killing Spree before He Transforms Camp Blackfoot into Blackfoot Graveyard or Are The Campers Destined to Die One By One in the Woods?

Welcome to Another Saturday Slasher Cinema Featuring the 1993 Horror Action Movie Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence Written By Larry Cohen and Directed by William Lustig. The Film is the Third and Final Installment in Lustig and Cohen’s Maniac Cop Trilogy.

                   

Synopsis:Police Officer Katie Sullivan Shoots Two Crooks who are Robbing a Store, and Though She’s Seriously Injured in the Process, Reporters Manipulate the Footage Painting Sullivan as a Trigger Happy Rouge Cop. Devious Police Department Bosses are Planning  to Murder Sullivan to Avoid a Public Relations Nightmare Alleging that Sullivan Used Excessive Force. Meanwhile Matt Cordell the Horribly Disfigured Undead Killer Cop has been Resurrected by a Devious Voodoo Priest.

                   

Upon Returning from the Grave Once Again Cordell takes a liking to Sullivan, and is Determined to Exact Gory Revenge on Her Enemies (Along with Anyone Who Dares to Get in His Way). Can Detective Sean McKinney find a way to Stop the Carnage of Cordell’s Killing Spree Once and For All, or is He Destined to become Part of  Cordell’s Ever Mounting Body Count?!

It Stars Robert Davi, Claudia Christian, Michael Lerner, and B Horror Icon Bruce Campbell, with Robert Z’Dar returning as MATHEW CORDELL, an Undead Police Officer Turned Serial Killer following His Murder.

               

Plot Summary:

Murderous Renegade Police Officer Matthew Cordell once Roamed the Streets of New York City Unleashing His Brutal Brand of Vigilante Justice upon Its Citizens. The Supernatural Cordell is Struck Down and Killed by Good Guy Hero Cop Jack Forrest (Bruce Campbell) Ending His Sadistic Killing Spree. Now, Forrest is Eager to Move On from those Heinous Events , but He is Stopped in His Tracks when an All Too Familiar Homicidal Rampage Begins. Thought to be Dead and Gone, Cordell Returns Once Again from Beyond the Grave, and Ready to Wreak His Merciless Havoc Once More. This Time However Cordell has Help from a Times Square Serial Killer named Steven Turkell Who has a Penchant for Strangling Strippers. Cordell has returned Targeting the Vicious Criminals (and Anyone that Gets in His Way) that Mutilated and Murdered Him after He was Framed by a Corrupt City Hall.

               

Will Cordell get His Revenge at Last and Rest in Peace once and For all, or will Cordell’s Psychotic Slaughterfest be Ended Once Again By Hero Cop Jack  thus Sending Cordell Straight Back to Hell?!

The Film was First Screened at the Marche du Film in Cannes in May 2015, and was Released in Theaters in Finland on November 6, 2015.

           

Brief Plot Summery:

A Group of 7 Finnish Friends are Heading for a Weekend at a Cabin in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, and on Their way are Accompanied by Three English Speaking Men. The Group who was looking forward to a Fun Filled Weekend, instead Find Themselves involved in a Game of LIFE OR DEATH when They are ATTACKED by a 6 FOOT TALL, MONSTROUS, SEX CRAXED CREATURE  who appears to be Half Man and Half Rabbit Brandishing an Insanely Long Penis! The Menacing Mutant Rabbit Monster has come for the Sole purpose of Scoring with the Women, and Attacking Anything that Resembles a Woman’s Vagina!

FYB is Delighted to Present the 1980 Italian Exploitation B Horror Movie ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST (also Known as Zombie 3) directed by Marino Girolami. The Movie was Re-Edited and Released Theatrically in the United States under the Title Doctor Butcher M.D. in 1982.

           

Brief Plot Summer:

The Film starts off in New York, where a Hospital Employee is found to have been DEVOURING CORPSES in the Morgue. Morgue Assistant and Anthropology Expert Lori Discovers He was from the Asian Molucca Islands where She grew up. Dr. Peter Chandler investigates, and HE and Lori discover similar CORPSE MUTILATIONS have occurred in Other City Hospitals, where Immigrants from this Region are Working.

Peter leads an Expedition to the Islands to Investigate, where he liaises with Doctor(and Mad Scientist) Obrero. Included in the Expedition are Peter’s Assistant George, George’s Eager Journalist Girlfriend Susan, Lori, Local Boatsman Molotto assigned by Dr. Obrero, and Three Guides. On the Island They are HUNTED BY CANNIBALS and A ZOMBIE HORDE, the latter Created by the Sinister Doctor Obrero who has been conducting GRUESOME EXPERIMENTS on The Living and The Dead.

In the End Lori is accepted as The QUEEN OF THE CANNIBALS, and Sends the Tribe off to Destroy Doctor/Mad Scientist Obrero and His UNHOLY ZOMBIE ARMY!

FYB is Ecstatic to bring You what is Considered to be the First Ever Splatter Film EVER MADE! This Video Nasty is the Cult Classic BLOOD FEAST composed, Shot, and Directed by “The Godfather of Gore” Herschell Gordon Lewis Himself. BLOOD FEAST immediately became Notorious for its EXPLICIT VIOLENCE AND GORE. Also the Main Character/Killer Fuad Ramses has been described as “The Original Machete-Wielding Madman”open the Door for Future Characters such as Micheal Myers (Halloween Franchise) and Jason Vorhees (Friday The 13th Franchise).

           

Brief Synopsis: Fuad Ramses and His Family have relocated from America to France, where They Own and Operate an American Style Diner. Unfortunately for the Ramses Business is less than Stealer so Fuad takes a Night Job working in the Museum of Ancient Egyptian Culture. There He is compulsively drawn to a Seductive Statue of the Ancient Egyptian Goddess Ishtar. Before long the Statue of Ishtar starts speaking to Fuad through Visions, and Finally succumbs to Her DEADLY DESIRES!

After Surrendering to The Statue of Ishtar’s Malevolent Charms Fuad begins a New Life in which MURDER AND CANNIBALISM become His Daily Routine. He starts to Prepare a Ritual Feast to Honor Ishtar with a Lavish Affair SOAKED IN BLOOD, ORGANS, AND INTESTINES OF HIS VICTIMS! As The Butchered Bodies are stacked upon the Alter of Ishtar, Fuad slowly Descends Deeper Into Utter Insanity until He serves Only as Ishtar’s Human Puppet. The Only Issue is Ishtar Thirsts Not Just For HUMAN BLOOD, but She wants the Blood of Fuad’s Wife and Daughter as well!

FYB’s Friday Night GoreFest Film: DEAD -ALIVE!

Well after Posting Peter Jackson’s Man Eating Alien Cult Classic BAD TASTE last Week it started a rather Heated Debate around these parts which resulted in making the Natives Restless. The Issue at Hand is a Simple Disagreement. Some Here Believe Peter Jackson’s Second Feature Film DEAD-ALIVE (aka BRAINDEAD) to be Far Superior Compared to BAD TASTE. While Others Hold Their Ground that Peter Jackson’s First Film BAD TASTE is in fact the Superior of the Two Movies. So to Satiate the Scandal We decided in all Fairness that We should Also Showcase DEAD-ALIVE and Here We are.

FYB couldn’t be Happier to Present Peter Jackson’s Slapstick Splatter Zombie Horror Comedy Film  DEAD-ALIVE!!!

           

Brief Plot Summery: In 1957, Explorer Stewart McAlden and His Team Smuggle a Sumatran RAT MONKEY They have Captured on SKULL ISLAND. Monkey Rats are a HYBRID CRYPTO CREATURE thats Mean as Hell with The Bite to Match! Monkey Rats came to be when PLAUGE CARRYING WHARF RATS  from Passing Ships Invaded Skull Island and Raped The Indigenous Monkey Population resulting in the MUTANT MONSTER Known as the more than Infamous Rat Monkey.

During McAlden and His Team’s Escape from Skull Island’s WARRIOR NATIVES who Demand the return of the Captive Rat Monkey, Stewart is BITTEN by the Shanghaied Rat Monkey. This Results in Stewart being DISMEMBERED AND MURDERED by His Own Crew, Who are Terrified of the Effects of the Rat Monkey Bite. The Captured Rat Monkey is then Shipped to Wellington Zoo in New Zealand.

           

Lionel Cosgrove lives in a Large Victorian Mansion in Wellington with His Domineering Mother Vera.  To Vera’s Dismay and Disapproval Lionel falls head over heels in Love with a Lovely Spanish Romani Shopkeeper’s Daughter named Paquita Maria Sanchez. Maria is Convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Lionel and Her are Destined to be Together. When the Young Couple visit the Wellington Zoo together on a Date, Vera follows them and is BITTEN BY THE RAT MONKEY!

Although Vera seems fine Initially after being Bitten over the Next Few following Days Vera starts to become Sicker and Sicker even EATING HER OWN EAR (and Later Paquita’s Pet Dog) while having Lunch. Some After Vera DIES Only to be REANIMATED as a BLOOD THIRSTY FLESH EATING ZOMBIE, and KILLS Her Attending Nurse Mrs. McTavish Who also Turns into a Fiendish Flesh Eating Zombie. Lionel manages to Lock His Zombified Mother and Mrs. McTavish in the Basement where He keeps them Sedated with ANIMAL TRANQUILIZERS! Unfortunately for Lionel things Don’t Always Go as Planned and Vera is able to Escape from the Confines of the Basement, and ALL ZOMBIE HELL BREAKS LOOSE from there!

           

Can Lionel save Wellington before its Entire Populous is DEVOURED or Worse Transformed into MAN EATING ZOMBIES??? Find Out in Peter Jackson’s Cult Classic DEAD-ALIVE!!!
