Saturday Slasher Cinema: The Burning

Welcome to this Week’s Edition of Saturday Slasher Cinema Featuring the 1981 Slasher Cult Classic The Burning Directed By Tony Maylam. The Movie is Based on a New York Urban Legend of the Cropsey Maniac, and is the Debut of Actor Jason Alexander as well as  Actress Holly Hunter. The Musical Score for the Film was Composed by Rick Wakeman of the Progressive Rock Band Yes. The Special Effects are Courtesy of Effects Legend Tom Savini who turned Down Working on Friday the 13th Part 2 to work on The Burning.

(NOTE: Before Any Wise Ass has a Chance to Mention it Harvey Weinstein was involved in this Movie, but I refuse to give Him ANY Credit for Anything Ever. The Only Thing Harvey Weinstein should be Remembered for is being a Pedophile, Child Molester, and Serial Rapist Who will Die Rotting in Prison.)

                   

Plot:

At a Camp Blackfoot, Some of the Teenagers pull a Prank on The Camp’s Sadistic and Alcoholic Caretaker, Cropsey (as They feel it is necessary to ‘Get Him Back”). The Prank though goes Horrifically Wrong when They Teens accidentally Set Cropsey on Fire and Leave Him for Dead. Five Long Torturous Years Later, the Demented and Deformed  Cropsey is Discharged from the Hospital, and Returns to the Camp Equipped with a Pair of Rusty Sheers, Ready to Unleash His Particular Brand of Vengeance on Those Responsible for His Gruesome Disfigurement. Can Anyone Stop the Murderous Cropsey’s Killing Spree before He Transforms Camp Blackfoot into Blackfoot Graveyard or Are The Campers Destined to Die One By One in the Woods?

Well Considering We started Slasher Cinema (and this is the 3rd SSC) We though it Only Appropriate that We Present SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE 3!  The 1990 American Slasher Film Slumber Party Massacre (also Know As Captive Women in the Philippines) is Directed By Sally Mattison and Written By Catherine Cyran. The Film is the Third and Final Installment in the Slumber Party Massacre Trilogy.

                  

Brief Summary:

The DRILLER KILLER is Back for Part 3 of the Classic Cult Slasher Trilogy. This Time Around Jackie, Diane, and Martia are Three High School Girls Who Love to have a Good Time Partying like there’s No Tomorrow. When These Girls Party, They Bust Out of Their Bikinis and Break Out the Brews-But The Driller Killer is out for a Thrill with His Power Drill…and  He’s READY TO KILL! He’s Utterly Psychotic and Looking for Luscious Babe Bods to Murder and Mutilate, and He’ll find Them Too at Jackie’s Slumber Party turning it into a Blood Soaked Massacre!

Friaday Slaughterfest Film: SLEDGEHAMMER

Welcome to The FYB Friday Slaughterfest Film the 1983 Slasher Movie SLEDGEHAMMER Written and Directed by David A. Prior. Sledgehammer was One of the Very First Shot on Video Horror Movies.

           

Brief Plot Summary:

In a Secluded House, an Abusive Mother locks Her Young Son in a CLoset, then goes into another room to Meet the Man She is Cheating on Her Husband with. The Man and Woman plan to Leave Their Respective Spouses, but Their Plans are Cut Short when an UNKNOWN KILLER appears and MURDERS THEM WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER!! The Police arrive and Find the Corpses, with the Exception of the Little Boy, Who  is Missing and is Presumed Dead.

Ten Years after the Grisly Murders Seven Friends get Together to Enjoy a Crazy Weekend in the Mountains, Drinking and Partying to Their Hearts Content. Unbeknownst to the Group, a SHAPE SHIFTING EVIL still Lurks within the Walls of the House just Waiting to be Unleashed. The First Day at the House, One of the Seven Friends, John goes Snooping Around in the Garage. He Finds a Sledgehammer and Takes it. What John is Unaware of is by taking the Sledgehammer He has Unwittingly Unlocked the Homicidal Spirit that Haunts the House, and the Fight for Survival has Begun.

           

When Night Falls, Chuck convinces His Friends to Participate in a Seance in an Attempt to Contact the Spirits of the Victim’s Who Died in the House, so The Group can Solve the Mystery of Who Murdered Them. The Impromptu Seance is a Success and Brings Forth the Ghastly Ghost of the Missing Boy, which Appears as a Towering Man in a Smiling Translucent Mask. It doesn’t take long for the Sinister Spirit They Summonded to Start Slaughtering Them by Bludgeoning, Stabbing, and Breaking His New Victim’s Necks!

Discovering the Dire Fate of Their Friends the Remaining Teens decide to Hold Up in the House until Morning, at which point They will attempt to Reach the Nearest Town. Will the Remaining Teens Escape the HOUSE OF HORROR or are They Destined to Die as Well? Can Anything Stop the Sledgehammer Wielding Spirit’s Killing Spree Once and For All? And Can Evil Even Die???
