The Gashlycrumb Tinies Set To Music

Welcome to Today’s FYB Post featuring the Poem The Gashlycrumb Tinies by the Infamous Writer,  Artist, Illustrator, and Tony Award winning Costume Designer Edward Gorey (February 22, 1925 to April 15, 2000) set to Music by Daisy Chapman and Red Carousel. Gorey’s Characteristic Pen-and-Ink drawings often Depict Vauge and Unsettling Narrative Scenes in Both Victorian as well as Edwardian Setting that have Built a Long Term Cult Following Gorey wrote The Gashlycrumb tinies in 1963 and the Poem that serves Cautionary Tale of being Aware of all the Deadly perils of Life that can bring about a Person’s Early Demise. The Poem was once summed up by George Boomer who said “(The Poem) Is a rebellion against a view of childhood that is sunny, idyllic, and instructive.”. The Poem follows a Fairly Simple and Dark Theme Combining The Alphabet, Children, and a Horrible Fate for Each of the Children. The Poem consists of Child with a Name Starting with each Letter of The Alphabet in Chronological Order. What makes this Poem rather Demented is Each Child Mentioned Meets a Variety of Gruesome Deaths carried out  in Some Brutally Creative Way.

Throughout Gorey’s Illustrious Career Gorey was known for His Illustrated Books as well as Drawing Cover Art or Illustrations for Other Writers. Gorey illustrated Over 200 Book Covers for a Variety of Publishing Houses including Doubleday Anchor, Random House’s Looking Glass Library, Bubbs-Merrill, and as a Free Lance Artist. Among other Works Gorey illustrated Bram Stoker’s Dracula, H.G. Wells’ The War Of The Worlds, and T.S. Elliot’s Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats. When Gorey was working as a Freelance Writer/Illustrator He used several Pen Names, some of which were Anagrams of His First and Last Name like Ogdred Weary, Dogear Wryde, Ms. Regera Dowdy, just to Name a Few. Meanwhile Gorey used Other Pen Names for His Original Work Too such as O. Mude (which is German for O. Weary), and Eduard Blutig which is a German Pun on His Own Name. Also During His Career Gorey conducted Literary Experiments like. Creating Wordless Books, Books the Size of a Matchbox, Pop Up books, and Books that were/are Comprised Entirely of Inanimate Objects.

Gorey Classified His Work as Literary Nonsense, and in Respone to being called Gothic Gorey Replied “If you’re doing nonsense it has to be rather awful, because there’d be no point. I’m trying to think if there’s sunny nonsense. Sunny, funny nonsense for children—oh, how boring, boring, boring. As Schubert said, there is no happy music. And that’s true, there really isn’t. And there’s probably no happy nonsense, either.”

Welcome to Today’s FYB Post on The Obscene Extreme Festival or Commonly referred to as OEF. OEF is a Yearly Extreme Music Festival Held in the Czech Republic Held at Trutnov Battlefield. OEF was the Brain Child of founder Miloslav “Curby” Urbanec’s who Started OEF in 1999. Curby considers Obscene Extreme to be Primarily a Grindcore Festival at Heart, BUT there’re Other Extreme Music Genres/Subgenres such as Death Metal, Hardcore Punk, Gringcore, Extreme Metal, and Goregrind.

OEF has become such Success Over the Years that OEF started Holding International OEF Festivals in Asia, Europe, South America, Mexico, Australia, America, and Indonesia. Since the First OEF in 1999 over 1,081 Bands have Played Obscene Extreme Festival(s) including Napalm Death, Obituary, Exhumed, EyeHateGod, SCAT, Cripple Bastards, Gutalax, SCAT, Putrid Pile, Terrorizer, Municipal Waste, Brujeria, and Cannibal Corpse. The Most interesting Factor of OEF is that Since the Beginning the Festival has Exclusively Offered Vegetarian/Vegan Food and All Other Types of Food are Strictly Prohibited on the Premises. In Addition to the Bands and Vegetarian/Vegan Food OEF also Offers Body Piercing, Photo Gallery, OEF Merchandise, Tons of Press doing Interviews, Vendors at the Obscene Market, a Show of Studio Hell, Beer, and a Stage Diver’s Manual. The Last Aspect of OEF that Most People would find Surprising is In Spite of it’s Name OEF is Known for being a Positive Environment. Believe it or Not Czech Radio said that OEF is “Exceptionally Tolerant and Friendly Atmosphere.”

Now that We have Covered the Usual Basic Information Pertaining to OEF We thought it be Interesting to Hear about OEF from its Founder Curby in His Own Words. A-SYNC RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT AND THE BACKROOMS

Welcome to Today’s FYB Post featuring BACKROOMS A-SYNC ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/VIDEOS  as Part of the Psychological Horror Web Series by Kane Pixels. The Backrooms is a Creepypasta that was inspired by a Comment Left on a Picture of an “Unsettling Room” on 4Chan’s/x/board. The Comment inspired an Expanded Version of the Creepypasta as well as YouTube Videos on the Topic. The Backrooms Creepypasta was made into a Short Horror Film and a Horror Series by 16 Year Old American Director, Visual Effects Artist, and Youtuber Kane Pixels. The ongoing Online Horror Series’s First Installment was Uploaded to Youtube on January 7th, 2022 and Then the Rest of the Series was Posted over the Course of the Last Few Months (All Previous Installments are Posted Here for Your Connivence).

SOMETHING NEW: There has Been a New Development in the BACKROOMS Saga. Series Creator Kane Pixels has Started a Secondary BACKROOMS Channel with Additional Content Not Found on His Main Channel. The New Channel He Started is Named A-Sync Research after the Fictitious and Ominous Research Company from the Series that’s Responsible for Introducing the BACKROOMS to the World. This Development has Thrown Things a Bit Out of Whack Here So now We’re Doing Damage Control to Sort Out any and all confusion. We have Previously Posted Installments Backrooms – The Search and No Escape Previously, BUT We included them here Anyway to Preserve the Series in its Entirety.

This Unique Series does Something Rare Especially Now a Days which is it Simply fucking gets Better with Each Episode. Dread The Slammer

Welcome to today’s FYB Post featuring the Animation DREAD THE SLAMMER By Umami. For those unaware Umami (aka Justin Tomchuk) is a Canadian artist, composer, and content creator who makes surrealist animated videos. The title track for the video is the song “Fourth of the Earth” by Hexsystem which is the alias under which Justin Tomchuk composes and publishes music. Tomchuk’s musical genres include downtempo electronic music, particularly industrial and ambient music. Many of his Songs serve as the score to his videos while others are independent releases.

Mondays are despised for being the flag ship of the five day work week where we toil our lives away 8 hours a day for 40 hours a week for our entire adult lives. With that said when people say “Life’s Short” I interpret the meaning of this phrase differently than most. Most people believe the phrase is a commentary on how when it comes to the big picture our average human lifespan is just an insignificant blip in an eternal timeline. I believe the meaning is that life isn’t short due to the limitations pertaining to our lifespan, but rather that we waste the majority of our time on Earth working. As we labor laboriously we dream of the freedom provided by retirement, and once we obtain our cherished retirement we realize two sad facts.

                   

First we are too old to do a lot of things we would like to have done. At the age of retirement We are  limited by our physical decline as our anatomy slowly and inevitably decays. Thus we must come to the grips with the fact there was a myriad of things we wanted to do, but no longer have the physical ability to do. Those wishes, plans, and desires fall to the wayside and the windows of opportunity slip away. The second is we realize we haven’t actual lived our lives and enjoyed our time here.  Rather we wasted it working in the pursuit of a paycheck, and ended up just simply existing. Existing to earn money the very money that deprived us of a Pandora’s box worth of joy and pleasure that life has to offer us. The only reason this egregious waste of one’s life continues to exist in denying us the life we want to live is we as a society accept it. By accepting it we then tolerate it and even end up enabling a system of labor that erodes our lives until there is virtually nothing left but the scraps. In my opinion DREAD THE SLAMMER embodies this unfortunate fact in a stark and grim manner.

                

DIALOGUE FROM DREAD THE SLAMMER : Combined, we are. Perfect lines. Harmony. We share a mind. A Synchronicity. From dilution cost, hopes and dreams are lost. Fear does remain. Our enemy we blame. Above all else. We dread of the slammer. For if he were to striketh us. We flip. Then, the wake that follows may change us all.

Here is FYB’s post for this humble hump day to serve as a mid week pallet cleanser. Today’s post is the Stop Motion Horror BELKO EXPERIMENT: Safety Tips by none other than one of our FAVORITE animators By Lee Hardcastle. Most of us are familiar with this old school employer throw back the safety training video(s) which explain common sense tips on how to maintain a safe work environment. These videos fucking SUCK the budget is minimal at best, the acting is shitty since They tend to save money by using actual employees instead of actual actors, are outdated as fuck since the company has likely been using the same fucking safety video since 1990, and the Videos are condescending as shit as they address the viewer as if the viewer is a child who just so happens to be a complete fucking idiot. WELL that’s NOT the case here as the BELKO EXPERIMENT work place safety video. The BELKO EXPERIMENT: Safety Tips is full of what We here at FYB love EXTREME VIOLENCE, BLOOD SHED BY THE BUCKET FULL, and GORE GALORE!

Welcome to this Wednesday’s post TELLING SCARY STORIES IN THE DARK by Oddest of the Odd (featuring Rackaracka and Laugh over Life) who describe themselves as  ” Just some filmmakers from Michigan buttfucking Los Angeles.”

Inspired by the Incredibly  Creepy and Ungodly Surreal Children’s Story Series Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark by Alvin Schwartz. The Scary Series is One of the Most Banned Books for Over 30 Years in America according to The American Library Association. The Series was Banned because the Books were Deemed Extremely Inappropriate for Children due to their Depictions of Violence, Negativity, and the Nightmarishly Horrific Drawings from Original Illustrator Stephen Gammell.  So it may Not be Surprising that Down the Line the Series Evolved from being Banned Book(s) into an Actual Hollywood 2019 Horror Movie of the Same Name Produced by Guillermo del Toro.

Plot Summery: In this Horror Movie like Tribute a Group of Friends Gather one Evening to Enjoy a Scare or Two, but Little do They Know Dark Forces Aplenty Closing in All Around Them. Will Anyone Escape from the Night of Terror with Their Lives Or is this the Friendships Final Chapter?

For Last Week’s Installment of Short Horror Film Friday featured the Award Winning Short Horror Film Peephole, and After perusing some of Cook’s other Work found Songs My Mother Taught Me and Knew We would have to Use it so Why Not Now?!

Plot Summery:

After Bobby and Lydia lose Their Mother to Cancer, life becomes an Unbearable Grind, Especially for Bobby who won’t even Leave the House. In an Attempt to Cheer up Her Brother, Lydia throws a Halloween Party with a Close Group of Good Friends. Once the Group starts Using an Ouija Board  They learn a Terrifying Lesson…..The Dead are Best left Undisturbed.
