BACKROOMS – HOLES and I REMEMBER

Welcome to Today’s FYB Post featuring BACKROOMS – HOLES which is the Latest Installment from the Psychological Horror Web Series by Kane Pixels. The Backrooms is a Creepypasta that originated from a Thread on the /X/ Board of 4Chan on May 12, 2019, where an Anonymous User asked Others to “Post Disquieting Images that just Feel ‘Off’.” There the First Photo Depicting the Backrooms was Uploaded, Presenting a Slightly Titled Image of a Sickly Yellow-Colored Hallway. Another Anonymous User Commented on the Photo with the First Story about the Backrooms, Claiming that One enters the Backrooms when They “No Clip Out of Reality in the Wrong Areas.”, which is a Video Game- Related Term Originating from the Popular Video Game DOOM for when a Player Passes Through a Physical Boundary that would Otherwise Block Their Way.

The Comment inspired an Expanded Version of the Creepypasta as well as YouTube Videos on the Topic (and of Course a Video Game). The Backrooms Creepypasta was made into a Short Horror Film and a Horror Series by 16 Year Old American Director, Visual Effects Artist, and Youtuber Kane Pixels. The ongoing Online Horror Series’s First Installment was Uploaded to Youtube on January 7th, 2022 and Then the Rest of the Series was Posted over the Course of the Last Few Months (All Previous Installments are Posted Here for Your Connivence).

This Unique Series does Something Rare Especially Now a Days which is it Simply fucking gets Better with Each Episode. The Series is also Incredible at Building the Tension of Each Installment until the fucking Anxiety of the Characters Bleeds through the fucking Screen. The Backrooms is Definitive fucking Proof You don’t Need a Shit Ton of Cash, Hollywood, Big Movie, An Orgy of CGI, Big Production Companies, Big Time Studios, Famous Actors, Film School/Degree, Jump Scares, or Even Gore to Mindfuck and Creep the Shit out the Audience. We would like to Acknowledge that this Incredible Series’s Sense of Desperation, Dread, and Isolation that Drives this Horror/Sci Fi Horror Series is Building and it’s Building Quickly. The Latest Installment BACKROOMS – HOLES really Ramps Up the Storyline from being Alienated, Alone and Trapped to HUNTED, Alone, and Trapped.

Along the Way Something Interesting Happened a Secondary Channel on BACKROOMS with IDENTICAL fucking Content as Kane Pixels Joined Youtube on November 24, 2016 where as Kane Joined Youtube on April 13, 2015. AND the Channels Name is Async Research which is the EXACT same Name of the Fictitious Organization/Company in Kane’s Backroom Series. As You may Imagine this has Raised Several Questions. You see one of the BIGGEST fucking Bitch in the BACKROOM is While Kane and Whoever the fuck Async Research is are KILLING it there is a fucking Blitzkrieg of Other Backroom Bullshit that Only Adds to the fucking Overall Chaos.

As it Turns Out the A-Sync Research Channel which we thought was a Secondary Channel created by Kane Pixels to Advance the Plot Line and We apparently were Wrong (at least as Far as Face Value is Concerned). A Comment by whoever the fuck is Responsible for the A-Sync Channel stated that the Channel isn’t Run by Kane Pixels, but instead it is Inspired by Him. So what the fuck is this all about then? Good fucking Question and Here is Our View on it. This A-Sync Person/People are NOT Random or Fans involved in some Fan Fiction Bullshit. This Person/People are OBVIOUSLY Collaborators working Side by Side with Kane Pixels since the Video Theme, Quality, and Feel of Each others Videos Coincide with One Another. The Other thing worth Noting is the Series was Originally Titled “THE BACKROOMS” and Now has been Simplified to Just “BACKROOMS” have No Idea Why but like We said We felt it was Worth Noting.

What’s Different this Time is We are Also Including I REMEMBER that was Posted on Kane Pixels Channel a Month Ago and is the ONL:Y Title in the Series so Far to NOT have Backrooms in the fucking Title. This is Our Attempt to keep the this shit Straight especially with all the Aforementioned Other Backroom Bitches Pumping Out Generic, Talentless, Boring Backroom(s) Click Bait Bullshit. So Let’s Get Started Shall We, Yes Lets. First Off Here is BACKROOMS – HOLES followed by I REMEMBER.

As We said this Series has Steadily Building Tension with Each New Installment. In this Installment there 2 Key Points that need Addressing. First Off We now Definitively Know Chris (The Camera Man) is Absolutely NOT ALONE as the Blasphemies living in the Backrooms make Their Presence Well Known. Second is Where Does Chris End Up by the End of the Video? Is it a New Level of the Backrooms or just a Continuation of the Level Chris is Currently on? Either Way You look at it Chris Life is in Now in Serious fucking Peril that’s for fucking Sure.

Now Something rather fucking unusual happened when We watched I REMEMBER and that was the Comment at the Top of the List by Someone going by Kattowo Caught Our Eye. This is fucking weird because We specifically Avoid the Comment Section due to the Fact it’s usually just useless babbling bullshit. You know the shit We’re talking about its the mindless fluff like “Great Video Keep Up The Good Job.”, “What a Shitty Video” or Perhaps Something utterly Asinine like “Totally Creeped me Out” or some other Nonsense. Lets fucking Face it the Comments Section is as fucking Useless as Any and All Social Media Platforms where Every Asshole thinks They’re a fucking Genius and the World cares about Their Opinion. TO BE CLEAR as a General Rule of Thumb We DO NOT give a Shit, Flying Fuck, or a Rat’s Ass about anything anyone has written in any Comment Section. With that Said there are ALWAYS Exceptions to the Rule and Kattowo would be that Very Exception. We were Surprised by the Detailed Analysis and How Actually fucking Though Provoking it is. First Off We would like to Acknowledge that this Incredible Series Sense of Utter and Total Isolation that Drives the Series is Building and Building Quickly. In this Video the Lost Camera Man (the Last Possible Survivor of a Group of 3) Explores Various Anomalies He finds along the Way. The Most Interesting Development is the Camera Man locates a Elevator that He takes to a Couple Different Levels. Now are They Legit Levels of the Backrooms or are They a Part of A-Synch Research’s Control or Observation Area(s) since They are the Ones Pioneering the Backrooms Project? What We like Best about this Video was the Somewhat of a Surprise Ending so be Sure to Check it Out.

The Premiss Remains the Same Throughout the SMILING WOMAN Series each Unique Installment Brings Us Closer to Discovering Who or What the Smiling Woman Is. When it comes to The SMILING WOMAN Series it Doesn’t take Long to Find its Legs and Take Off Running.

I as Far as I am Aware I coined the Term “Micro Horror Movie” when I posted the One Minute Long “Tuck Me In” by Ignacio Rodo on 1/29/21 (as Part of FYB’s Short Horror Film Friday). The Term Micro Horror is a Nod to one of the Unique Aspects of the Grindcore Music Genre: the Micro Song. There’re Songs by Grindcore Bands (Such as Anal Cunt, Insect Warfare, SCAT, Pig Destroyer, Brutal Truth, and Nuclear Assault for example) that are Only Seconds in Length. In Fact the British Grindcore/Death Metal Band Napalm Death hold the Guinness World Record for the Shortest Song ever Recorded with the Their One Second “You Suffer”. So I figure the Micro Horror Movie would Translate to a Short Horror Film that’s Five Minutes (Flat) or Under.

PLOT: One Late Night at an Empty Laundromat, a Young Woman is Tormented by a Menacing Smiling Woman.

Micro Horror Film Friday: POLAROID and The POLAROID Reboot

Welcome to this Friday’s Installment of Micro Horror Film Friday featuring POLAROID by Joey Greene and Paul Houston who shote Film in Their Apartment on a Budget of Less than $500 (Greene also Wrote, Produced, Directed, and Edited the Film).

As an Additional Surprise for this Post We also Have the Reboot of POLAROID also by Joey Greene and Paul Houston. The POLAROID Reboot was Produced by Lucía Almenara, Gisella Esteve, Adrià Fabregat, Yaiza Galán y Laura Monge.

The Thing I find Most Appealing when it comes to the Micro Horror Genre is the Sheer Simplicity: It’s a Protagonist and an Antagonist in The Moment of Terror. The Creator and Audience alike can appreciate You Don’t need a 2 Hour Hollywood CGI Whorefest to Generate Fear in the Audience. You can take a Full Length Horror Film, and then Strip Away all the Various Parts until You’re left with just the Keystone of a Horror Film which as We all Damn Well Know is Fear. You Don’t have to Bother with all the Typical Bullshit with Begging, Set Up, Character Development, Plot Arch, Conclusion, and So On and So Forth. You can revel in all that Truly matters when it comes to Horror which again is the Fear Factor. A Horror Movie that Doesn’t Instill Fear on at Least some Level with its Audience isn’t a Horror Movie its a Lame Attempt at One. So For Now On With the Show.

Found Footage: LOST IN THE CATACOMBS

Welcome internet travelers to this Wednesday’s FYB post that deals with the extreme psychological terror in the found footage originally titled Lost in the Catacombs. The found footage was part of a documentary which most notably aired as a Halloween Special on ABC Family, but the documentary in fact aired in various slightly different versions on Multiple Television networks in the early 2000s. The original film was directed by Francis Freeland and included segments of camcorder footage recorded in the vast and ancient Catacombs of Paris in the early 1990s. The footage was shot by an unknown man whose camera was allegedly discovered years later by an anonymous group of illicit catacomb explorers know as “cataphiles”. The group of cataphiles found the camera was found caked in dust and covered with mold but none the less still intact, and they claimed the footage on the video tape were both totally terrifying and sadly tragic.

For those who may be unaware the Paris Catacombs are a vast and extensive subterranean labyrinth that was created by building tunnels that connect a series of queries. The limestone from these quarries built Paris as it is known today, and eventually the city expanded to the point where the quarries and connecting quarry tunnel system lay below the busy metropolis. The Catacombs came to be back in the late 18th century (1787 – 1814) when the cemeteries in Paris became so overwhelmed with the dead it led to some serious problems. The over crowding of the cemeteries led to improper burials, open graves, and even unearthed corpses of the deceased, and this caused people living near/around the cemeteries to start contracting infectious diseases. To ease the over crowding and health problems and with tons of empty underground quarries at their disposal the police along with priests devised a morbid solution. They discreetly relocated the skeletal remains from older graves into the abandoned quarries effectively turning them into tombs. In the end the Paris catacombs came to house the remains of 6 to 7 million Parisians through out the estimated 187-200 miles of catacombs that lay below the city of Paris.

Let the insanity ensue………

So what the fuck?!:

While as you may imagine since the original airing(s) of the Lost in the Catacombs the creepy pasta crowd has run wild speculating what caused the unknown man to panic (and what possibly may have been his fate). It’s painfully obvious that the man’s flight or flight survival instinct wasn’t triggered by ghouls, ghosts, malevolent aliens, menacing monsters, malicious Mutants, psychotic madmen, or cannibalistic underground dwellers (C.H.U.Ds). As entertaining as it may be to propose outlandish circumstances to attempt to explain the footage, but these idle flights of fancy are nothing more than intellectual fluff.

The reality is far more disturbing and terror inducing than any imaginary beast or badman could ever hope to be. The brutal truth of the matter is the man started to experience growing anxiety as he realizes he may be in trouble. The Anxiety evolves into full blown panic as he comes to the conclusion that he is in a life or death situation and the life and death are his own. Finally the full blown panic activated the man’s fight or flight survival instinct causing him to completely lose his shit. He has realized at this point that his innocent adventure into the catacombs has gone horribly wrong, and he is now in the absolutely worst case scenario.

The man finds himself now effectively trapped underground in an expansive network of subterranean tunnels and make shift tombs and no way out. He apparently hadn’t thought to bring any sort of discernible supplies such as say food/ water, additional light source, or anything he could use to mark his path as he went in the event he in fact got lost. If the prospect of being trapped alone deep underground with the remains of 6-7 million dead people’s earthly remains, without food or water, blinded by the pitch blackness of the catacombs, confined in the cramped tunnels, and being utterly clueless on how to escape isn’t insanity inducing I don’t know what the fuck is.

Thus the Man’s catacomb adventure wasn’t an adventure at all it was a fatal mistake.

Short Horror Film Friday: OTHER SIDE OF THE BOX

Welcome to this Week’s Installment of Short Horror Film Friday Featuring THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BOX Directed by Caleb J. Phillips, and Cowritten by Caleb J. Phillips and Nick Tag.

Giving the Finger to the Trends, Caleb Phillips, OTHER SIDE OF THE BOX is Anything but Predictable. The Film is Rare Example of Suspense where You have Literally No Clue where it’s going. It’s Chock Full of Misdirection and Surprises that all Work Together to Defy the Viewers Expectations. Now where most Horror Films take Meticulous Care to NOT REVEAL the “Creature” until the Very End (Example: The Final Cliche Modern Day Jump Scare Bullshit), but Phillips Basically Does the Exact Opposite with OTHER SIDE OF THE BOX. In Debatably the Film’s Creepiest Scene, the Audience gets to see the “Creature” Unexpectedly in the Middle of the Story. It’s a Perfectly Executed Scene that is both Uncanny and Unnerving to Watch. Thus the Film Focuses on a Different Eerie idea: Knowing You’re being Watched, Self Preservation/Personal Safety, and All the While You are Unable to Look Away.

About OTHER SIDE OF THE BOX in The Director’s Own Words:

“I was so taken with this idea of terror coming from something as simple as being stared at, and the imagery of the head in the box deeply unsettled me. I’m a huge fan of cosmic horror and I wanted to make a film that felt more like an investigation instead of running from a monster.” The film, overall, succeeds in its mission. It’s fun to discover the “rules”of the scenario in real-time with the protagonists and this structural drive allows the film to find new things to present to the audience along the way. Many genre shorts run out of steam once they reveal their central high-concept trick. Box, rather, keeps building complexity and tension, getting better as it goes. Other Side of the Box won the Grand Jury Award for best midnight Short at SXSW in 2019, and as that accolade from that particular category would suggest, the film definitely skews strange. But, it’s also not inaccessible or abstract. That’s an important distinction. It’s a film that makes up its logic, but in doing so, never loses the audience. The mythology and character choices all feel like they make sense in the moment. And, of course, by relying on traditional genre thrills and suspense, it feels inherently watchable, never getting tripped up by its own inherent strangeness. It’s both bizarre and creepy in equal measure. Endings (especially in shorts) are hard. This one is a bit tough to decipher, but structurally, it feels like the film builds to a place of satisfying climax. And, thankfully, I never feel like Box resorts to easy tricks of the genre. It’s the kind of film with such a unique hook and central image that it’s bound to stick in the back of your mind for some time to come.” -Caleb J. Phillips-

Short Horror Film Friday Saturday Edition: MONOCHROME (PART 1)

Welcome to this Weeks Installment of Short Horror Films featuring the Short Horror Film MOMOCHROME (PART 1) Directed, Produced, Shot, Written, and Edited by Malachi Alexis. MONOCHROME (PART 1) Premiered on October 29, 2020 Just in Time for Halloween.

Synopsis: A Man is Alone at Home working in the Dark on His Computer at Home One Evening. Suddenly He receives a Bizarre and Ominous Text Message informing His that He has been “Marked For Judgement.” A Second Subsequent Text Follows (that is Equally Sinister) Explains that if He wish’s to Avoid being Judged by a Mysterious Unknown Monsieur Chipli then He must send a Specific Reply. After the Man Texts His response claiming Whoever it is has the Wrong Person it Proves to be a FATAL MISTAKE! A Mistake so Grave that it bring Him FACE TO FACE with The Maliciously Malevolent Monsieur Chiplin!!!

Notable Observations:

Monsieur Chiplin looks Extremely Reminiscent of Art The Clown from the Movies “Terrifier” and “All Hallow’s Eve (Both Movies are Posted Here).
One of the Clips that Plays on the Television during the Unsettling Strange Imagery is of the Goddess Bunny. We have a FYB’S SALUTE TO ECCENTRICS Installment Featuring The Goddess Bunny. We Also have the CULT OF THE WALRUS Posted in Strange and Disturbing Videos that Stars The Goddess Bunny.
The Scenes with Monsieur Chiplin are so Surreal and Perturbing that They would make David Lynch Proud.
The Lighting in this Film is Oddly Unique in the Light used in the Film is provided by Computer/Phone Screens, Flash Lights, TV Screen, and Flashing Police Lights. This Adds to the Uneasy Feel of the Film since to practically demands that the Viewer watch it in the Dark for Visibility, and that brings the “I feel like I’m in the Movie” Vibe to the Cinematic Mix.

Well While The Short Film Format is Freeing for the Creator’s since They don’t have to Deal with Backstory, Character Development, Plot Lines Etc. The Only issue is Sometimes it can be Rather Confusing to the Viewers since there is Far Less Context. MONOCHROM (PART 1) is Definitely one of these Films, but Luckily Not is all Lost. Since there Evidently will be a MONOCHROM (PART 2) this would mean that Part 1 sets up the Questions, and the Sequel/Part 2 Hopefully will Deliver the Answers.

THE QUESTIONS AT HAND:

Are We to Assume the Police Officer was Killed by Monsieur Chiplin?
Who or What is Monsieur Chiplin? Is He a Damned Soul, Demon, Devil, Evil Spirit, or Perhaps a Pissed Off Alien?
Where is Monsieur Chiplin From? Could He Be From Hell, Another Dimension, Some Super Natural Place/ Origin, or Parallel Universe?
What is Monsieur Chiplin’s Motive(s) Why is He Judging People and On What Basis?
Who or What the hell is Dambulla?
Where Does Dambulla Factor into all This?
Why is it that if You repent by Giving Yourself to Dambulla Saves You from being Judged by Monsieur Chiplin?

So We will just Have to Wait and See for MONOCHOME (PART 2) to Hopefully find Out About these Missing Pieces in MONOCHROME (PART 2). Now it so Happens to be that the Film was Released (just Prior to Halloween 2020) We may be waiting for a While. I’m quite sure it will Be Worth it in The End.

Welcome to Another Installment of Saturday Slasher Cinema Featuring the 1983 Cult Favorite Slasher Horror Movie SLEEPAWAY CAMP (Released as Nightmare Vacation in the UK) Written and Directed by Robert Hiltzik Who Also Served as the Film’s Executive Producer.

Sleepaway Camp was Released during the Slasher Genre’s Heyday, the Movie is Best Known for its INFAMOUS TWIST ENDING, and is Considered to be one of the Genre’s MOST SHOCKING! Since its Release Sleepaway Camp has Received a Positive Critical Response and a Dedicated Cult Following. The Movie tells the Story of a Young Girl sent to a Summer Camp that becomes the Site of a Series of Murders Shortly after Her Arrival.

Synopsis:

Following a Horrible Boating Accident that Kills Her Family, Shy, Sullen Angela moves in with Her Eccentric Aunt Martha and Her protective Cousin Ricky. One Particular Summer Aunt Martha sends Angela and Ricky to Camp Arawak. Soon after Their Arrival Bizarre and INCREASINGLY VIOLENT Accidents claim the Lives of Various Campers. Who is the Psychotically Twisted Individual Responsible for these Gruesome Murders? The Reveal of the Homicidal Camp Killer’s True Identity is One of the Most SHOCKING CLIMAXES in the History of the American Horror Cinema.

Welcome to another Installment of Short Horror Film Friday this Week Featuring the 2009 British Horror short No Through Road, and is Rumored to be based on the Clifton Bunny Man Urban Legend. The Video was Originally Posted by a User named indrancole3, but We couldn’t (and not for a lack of trying I assure You) find out Exactly WHO made No Through Road. The Closest thing to any real Information is that the Film was made by a Group of British Teenagers, But this has yet to be Confirmed. What made it increasingly Difficult is not Only was No Road Through a Short Horror Film which makes locating Information Trickier, but there is a Major Hollywood Full Length Film by the Same Name (though it has a Completely Different Premise altogether).

Premise:

On December 15th, 2008 four 17 Year Old Boys from Stevanage, Herefordshire were Reported Missing by Their Families. Two Days Later, Their Dead Bodies were found at Broomhall Farm, Ten Miles away from Stevenage in the Car They had been Driving. The Farm was thought to have been Abandoned, yet Further Investigation showed Signs of being Recently Inhabited. A Digital Camcorder was also Found in the Teens Car. This Video is Unedited Footage taken Straight from the Camera Itself, which has been Released with the Family’s Consent.
